First May Smallmouth Bass Fishing
Lake Erie Smallmouth Bass Fishing is back in action. Pennsylvania’s brutal winter has slowed down and as things are thawing out, bass are starting to bite. As weather begins to warm, the smallmouth bass will begin to move off the main lake and into shallow waters. Captain Mark Rose had the pleasure of fishing with Jim, Tom and Tom. They were traveling to Pennsylvania to experience the action on Lake Erie. Erie, PA is the perfect location to not only get some great fishing but enjoy what the state has to offer. Presque Isle State Park is a nice place to explore. You can also experience great eateries and pubs in the main city area.
Jim, Tom and Tom were repeats and went out on a 6 hour fishing trip with Captain Mark. It was a blast of a day catching many quality smallmouth bass. They adventured out into Presque Isle Bay and the main lake. According to Captain Mark, you can find them in both locations. Water temperatures are around 52-57 degrees which promotes for the bass to begin moving in. Smallmouth bass are holding in 5-12 foot of water.
Many types of bait were successful on this fishing trip. From live to artificial baits, you can catch them up really well this time of year. The Ned Rig, Jerk bait, Tubes and Steelshad lures were the best for artificial baits. You can also throw glass minnows as well to catch Erie smallmouth bass. Smallmouth Bass are moving in which makes for an exciting time to come catch them up.
Jim, Tom and Tom caught 35 bass in their 6 hour trip. The biggest fish weighed 5.78 pounds. Most of the fish were in the range of 3-4 pounds. These gentlemen loved to catch a variety of quality bass and will be back for more action soon.
Captain Mark Rose looks forward to fishing with them again in the future. It was an excellent fishing adventure with lots of great laughs and a good time.
